Group Riding Instructions & Guidelines

  • Safety is our top priority. Always think about your safety and the safety of the group.
  • There will be several groups of riders based on the average speed of the riders.  The faster groups in the front. Slower groups in the back.
  • Each bike group has a designated “lead biker” and a “tail biker.”
  • No one gets ahead of the lead biker in their group and no one gets behind the tail biker in their group.
  • No one rides alone and no one stops alone.  Use the buddy system.
  • If someone in your group needs to stop, have the tail biker stop with them. The rest of the group should continue riding.
  • The bikers that stopped will either catch up to their group or fall back and ride with the group behind them.
  • Groups will ride in a single file line.
  • Stress the importance of everyone in the group communicating verbally and with hand signs to the rider behind them. (“Slowing”  “Stopping” “Hole” “Sand” etc.)
  • Only take group breaks at the designated break stops.
  • At lunch we wait for all the groups to arrive before we start eating together.
  • At the end of the day, we wait for all the groups to arrive before we go to our rooms.
  • If you get lost, stop where you are, get safely off the road, but stay visible near the road so we can spot you from the road.
  • If you or someone in your group is struggling, please alert Kevin so he can keep an eye on them.
